Synopsis
Upon returning to the city where she studied five years ago, now as a professor, Nina's past catches up with her faster than she would have liked.
Historian Nina Petersen is researching trauma associated with escape and flight. After more than five years, she returns to Oxford, her former place of study, to hold lectures on her specialist subject at the summer school. No sooner does she arrive, than she bumps into her old flame and the love of her life, her doctoral advisor Thomas Rothwell. She risks falling in love once more with the charming, but married professor.
But she also really likes plumber Daniel. She finds a friend in him, and a soulmate. And his past is also closely linked to her area of specialism: Daniel is the grandson of a refugee whose fate is particularly dear to her heart. Nina soon finds herself not only caught between two men, but also between two completely different worlds.
Will she choose Thomas’ academic world with its strict rules and career opportunities, or Daniel's world, which promises great freedom, but also great uncertainty?
