本片為獨立電影，以低預算在羅馬和托斯卡尼拍攝，在羅馬的吉普賽營地請素人演員入鏡。《迷走羅馬》請到影星多納泰拉菲諾基亞羅、菲力浦尼古諾羅來飾演主角的父母。麗莎露絲安德烈茲飾演本片主角，攝影師則為佛拉登拉多維奇（2015年大衛獎最佳攝影獎得主）。美國影集《黑道家族》的創作者及導演/編劇大衛切斯給予本片許多支持和指導。
真實故事改編，靈感來自導演童年的事件。

When no one will take the time to fulfill her dream to visit Rome, she runs away, determined to see it for herself. On a train she meets a Roma girl, Emina, and begins following her through the streets of Rome to her gypsy camp. Shot in a real Roma camp using non-actors, the film also features the Italian stars Donatella Finocchiaro and Filippo Nigro.

Based on a true story, GIRL IN FLIGHT – LA FUGA is about 11-year old Silvia (Lisa Andreozzi), a confident, headstrong girl from a small town in Tuscany, whose life at home is consumed by her mother’s clinical depression. Her dream is to see Rome with her parents, but when it looks as though they’ll never have time to take her, she boards a train to Rome all by herself. On the train she meets a Romani girl. She follows her through the streets of Rome to her gypsy camp.
Shot in a real Romani camp with mostly amateur actors, the film also features the Italian film stars Donatella Finocchiaro and Filippo Nigro as the protagonist’s parents. Its mesmerizing images by award-winning cinematographer Vladan Radovic (Donatello Award for Anime Nere (“Black Souls”), 2015) reflect the tenderness and excitement, the joys and fears, of a young girl coming of age on an emotional journey of self-discovery.

An independent film, shot on a low budget in Rome and Tuscany with gypsy non-actors in a real Roman Gypsy camp, LA FUGA -- GIRL IN FLIGHT is graced by the presence of the acting talents of Donatella Finocchiaro, Filippo Nigro and the 11 year old Lisa Andreozzi, and the camerawork of cinematographer Vladan Radovic (Winner of the 2015 David di Donatello for Best Cinematography). It has long had the support and guidance of the director/writer David Chase, creator of the American TV series The Sopranos.
It is a real life story, based on events in the director's childhood.
