THE BLIND DETECTIVE: THE LOST SOULS OF VIENNA (AUSTRIA/GERMANY/2020/CRIME/THRILLER)
BLING ERMITTELT: DIE VERLORENEN SEELEN VON WIEN
Haller’s sister Sophie is abducted, and no-one knows who’s responsible or why she was targeted. The only thing Haller does know is that the gang are professional – and ruthless!
Haller doesn’t want the police involved. To keep his sister safe he must hunt down the criminals with only his assistant Niko to help. Neither of them realize the crime is linked to the Haller family fortune.
In the second part of the Austrian crime thriller, TV series favorite Philipp Hochmair goes back to Vienna as a former chief inspector Haller. But this time it's personal, Haller's sister Sophie has been kidnapped! Alexander Haller does not like to see his assistant Niko take his sister to a concert. Sophie, on the other hand, is very happy. But then suddenly everything is different when Sophie is kidnapped from the opera. Niko tries to stop the perpetrators and shoots one of them, but with Sophie in their power they manage to escape. Despite his blindness, Haller wants to investigate the case alone and not turn on the police. At first, they suspect that Niko's betting debts have something to do with the kidnapping. But soon shows.
The blind former chief inspector Alexander Haller (Philipp Hochmair) has experience with kidnapping. This time he is in an unfamiliar position: his sister Sophie (Patricia Aulitzky) was kidnapped on a theater visit with Niko (Andreas Guenther). The assumption that it is about 50,000 euros that Hallers private chauffeur owes the betting mafia turns out to be the wrong track. The hostage-takers demand 750,000 euros and seem to be well informed about the Hallers. Alexander thinks it is possible that someone might want to take revenge on him. Turning the police on would increase the danger to Sophie. When the body of a kidnapper is found, Commissioner Janda (Jaschka Lämmert) comes across the case. Alexander does not want to accept your help. Together with Niko, he tries to save his sister on his own.
The blind ex-commissioner Alexander Haller knows about kidnappings from his time as chief inspector in Vienna. When his sister Sophie is kidnapped while visiting the theater with his chauffeur Niko, Haller immediately knows: no police, because 50 percent of hostage-taking with police involvement are fatal!
Nikos assumption that it could be about 50,000 euros, which he owes the betting mafia, turns out to be the wrong track. The hostage-takers Adrian and Caro are of a different caliber: They are asking for 750,000 euros and seem to be well informed about the Hallers. When the body of her accomplice is found, Commissioner Laura Janda comes across the case. She knows nothing about the kidnapping, but about the bloody scuffle between Nikos and the murdered man that night.
It is clear to the inspector that the convicted driver and Haller are hiding something. Nevertheless, at the request of her former boss, she initially stays out of the mysterious matter. Haller insists on handing over the ransom as quickly and discreetly as possible and in the meantime finding out who he is dealing with. Meanwhile, the tied up Sophie tries to play her kidnappers against each other.
