Circle of Silence explores the notorious 1975 murders of five Australia-based journalists, the Balibó Five, killed in Portuguese Timor while reporting on Indonesian military incursions.
Inspired by Shirley Shackleton's Walkley Award-winning book of the same name, Shirley's husband, Greg Shackleton was one of the reporters murdered. Following the decision of the Australian Federal Police to abandon its war crimes investigation, the documentary follows Shirley's travels to Timor-Leste and Indonesia to investigate what happened to the Balibó Five.
